On 22 July 2023, three students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Sonargaon University, proudly represented the university at the 3rd International Conference on Environmental Concerns and Sustainable Development (ICECSD-2023) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Moriumnasa Mim, Riyaz Hossain, and Fatema Tuj Zohra Pollobi presented their original research paper titled "Paving the Way for a Greener Future: Unveiling Gen Z's Sustainable Behavior towards Green IT."
The research focused on the sustainable behavior of Generation Z toward Green Information Technology (Green IT) and explored how young people can contribute to environmentally responsible technology practices. The study addressed several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7, SDG 9, SDG 12, SDG 13, and SDG 15, highlighting the relationship between technological development, environmental sustainability, and responsible consumption.
The students presented their work alongside researchers and professors from different backgrounds, providing them with valuable exposure to an international academic and research environment. Their participation demonstrated the ability of CSE students to conduct research on globally relevant technological and environmental issues.
The research team worked under the insightful supervision of Mohammad Rashed Hasan Polas, Lecturer and Researcher at DBA & CRTC, Sonargaon University. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering congratulates the students and their supervisor on this achievement and remains committed to encouraging research, innovation, and interdisciplinary work addressing global challenges and sustainable development.
