The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Sonargaon University, proudly participated in the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day Hackathon 2025, organized as part of MIST Cyber Drill 2025 – "Breach It If You Dare!". The event was powered by the Posts & Telecommunications Division and the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) in collaboration with the MIST Cyber Security Club.
The competition consisted of two phases: an Online Preliminary Round held on 12 May 2025, followed by the Onsite Final Round on 16 May 2025 at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Dhaka. More than 196 teams from universities across Bangladesh participated in the preliminary round, with only 35 teams qualifying for the onsite finals. Representing Sonargaon University, the team "Pirates of the Dead Flag" successfully qualified for the final round and secured an impressive 23rd position with a total score of 1,050 points.
The Capture The Flag (CTF) competition challenged participants in multiple cybersecurity domains, including Cryptography, Steganography, Networking, Web Exploitation, Reverse Engineering, Binary Exploitation (Pwn), Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT), and other advanced security topics. The team's achievement demonstrates the growing expertise of Sonargaon University students in ethical hacking and cybersecurity. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering congratulates the team on this outstanding accomplishment and remains committed to encouraging participation in national-level competitions that foster technical excellence, innovation, and practical cybersecurity skills.
