The Sonargaon University Programming Club (SUPC), in collaboration with CyberBangla and InfosecBD, successfully organized a seven-week Cybersecurity Training Program beginning on 22 September 2024. A total of 70 students enrolled in the program and received hands-on training in various areas of cybersecurity, including ethical hacking, digital forensics, web security, cryptography, and network security. The initiative aimed to equip students with practical cybersecurity knowledge and prepare them for real-world challenges in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
To evaluate the participants' learning outcomes, InfosecBD organized an online Capture the Flag (CTF) competition on 22 November 2024. The contest challenged participants to solve cybersecurity problems covering multiple technical domains, enabling them to demonstrate their analytical thinking and practical problem-solving skills in a competitive environment.
The program concluded with a Cybersecurity Seminar and Prize Giving Ceremony held on 23 November 2024 at the Sonargaon University Auditorium. The event was graced by Md. Foysal Hossain, Founder of InfosecBD, as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Associate Professor Mohammad Naderuzzaman and Assistant Professor Arifur Rahaman from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, who distributed prizes to the competition winners and certificates to all students who successfully completed the training program.
In the CTF competition, Md. Shawon Ali secured First Place, Mehedi Hasan Topu achieved Second Place, and Md. Rafiuzzaman Sowrov earned Third Place. The seminar attracted more than 200 students from various departments, who actively participated in discussions on the importance of cybersecurity, emerging cyber threats, and career opportunities in the field. The event significantly contributed to raising cybersecurity awareness within the university community and reinforced the Department of Computer Science and Engineering's commitment to developing skilled cybersecurity professionals through industry collaboration and practical learning initiatives.
